We Moved!

Well sort of, see when we bought this house in 2014 it wasn't just one house it's a duplex! BEST INVESTMENT WE HAVE EVER MADE! Anyways...back in November we finally got our renters out and we moved to the other (bigger) side! And guess who our new renter is?? MY SISTER! How awesome is that! She lives on the side we were fixing up (still needs some more updates) and now that were on this side we gotta do some...you guessed it MORE fixing up.

I made a small video of the house pretty empty (aside from our couch being moved over). When I recored there wasn't electricity yet so I apologize about the dark parts. Eventually we will show you the updated version of the house! :)

We haven't done too much just cause of so many different reason i.e. I got a new job ( more on that later) Brandon has had some anxiety issues, and just overall really busy during the holidays. But with the new year here we're ready to tackle everything!

Talk to y'all soon!

Kitchen Facelift!

I am going to admit I SUCK at blogging. I always say I am going to actually do it this time, and then...I don't. Well I'm back to try again! So this year Brandon and I redid our kitchen, we're not done we still have the floors and change the back sliding door but for now it looks amazing!

Heres where it started...
This was a couple months after we moved in... maybe this was around January 2013, (sorry about the clothes it was the only picture I could find and our dryer was broken) ANYWAYS we hadn't done anything to the kitchen at this point. We actually lived with it like this for 2 years, until we bought it in August 2014.

Then we painted and gave the window some new blinds. We thought at that time it made a HUGE difference. Haha we were proud.  This was probably like December 2014

Then in April 2015 Brandon put up new cabinets all by himself! Well with my assistance of course but it was completely all us! Saved us a good amount of money for installation!!

A few weeks later we got new counters installed, luckily it didn't cost us any extra to have them professionally installed, and we removed the old countertops ourselves because if not we would have been charged a removal fee. We also did our own subway tile backsplash, I am proud to say I laid most of the tiles, while brandon did the tile cutting. Surprisingly this was pretty easy to do!

And at last this month August 2015 we were able to buy new appliances! which completed the last part before the floors!

Here is a budget breakdown estimate.

Cabinets: $700
Countertop: $700
Backsplash: $70
Appliances: $1200

Total: $2670.00

one more before and after just because...

If you ask me that's pretty good for what we got out of it. I am in love with the kitchen and entirely proud of Brandon and I for doing this ourselves. I think we did pretty darn well.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year! I hope you rang in the year with the ones you love! We had an eventful night! First we went to my dads and popped some fireworks then around 11:30pm we headed to the hospital to be with our friend who was stuck in there for his second round of chemo (thankfully he is doing good) and it was awesome because we had a 180 degree view of the city and saw the whole sky lit up with fireworks! And it was great being their with our best friends.
Then we left to our other best friends house to be with some good friends and didn't get home til 3am! Good times, good times!

I also started my own little version of Project Life! If you've never heard of it, its basically a simpler way to scrapbook, and its just little snippets of your days. You can do it daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc... I'm doing mine weekly for now, but it may change you never know. So basically one page a week is what I plan.

Now I have to always do my way the budget way so I found this idea on Pinterest where the girl used baseball card sleeves instead of purchasing the actual project life kits. The only downfall is they're all the same size you don't get variety like you would if you got the kit. And you also have to cut your own cards and pictures, I got a paper cutter and a crop-a-dile for the round edges, if you got the kit they actually have a cutter specifically designed for it.

For the Title page I cut off the bottom strip of sleeves so it kind of has a different feel to it, and makes it feel like a "title"(don't mind the pictures, I had Brandon hold them up since it's dark out and there's not really good lighting)

BUT the best part was I went to Office Depot and found the baseball sleeves for $1 a 10 pack! I bought 5, I didn't need that many but you never know when a deal like that is gonna happen again! The sales person probably thought I was an avid baseball card collector LOL

For now I have them organized in a regular binder but I bought some fabric to cover, Im going to attempt to make it but if it fails then I'll just go out and buy a pretty binder.

I bought some stickers and a little book of card stock and cut them all to make little cards .

And I also pinned so many free printables of quotes and different things so I'm excited to document the whole year! I hope I enjoy it all year so I can continue it!

Again Happy New Year!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

I hope you had a great Christmas! I know we did! I'm typing on my new HP stream -cue happy dance-!

We spent Christmas eve mostly with my family at my aunts house and then Brandons family, then this morning we woke up at my moms and opened gifts then headed to my dads for some lunch and more gifts! Then for Brandons Christmas gift I bought him Spurs tickets so we went to the game, that was fun. And now were at home relaxing playing with all of our new gifts, and were going to watch the Mickeys Christmas Day Parade right now, I recorded it since I knew I wasn't going to get the chance to watch it this morning!

Again Merry Christmas!!!

Chalk Christmas

Added a little Christmas cheer to the kitchen today :)

It's simple, nothing fancy but it makes me happy when I walk in and see it. The tree is a diy advent calendar, I just cut out some colored card stock and strung them. I also made the snowflake as the day marker.

My Christmas Tree

I already put my Christmas tree up...but there's no surprise there I love Christmas! I recorded myself putting it up just because I've always wanted to do it but every year I forget. I almost forgot this year too, but remembered still in the beginning of putting it up!

We got this tree last year and we love it! My Christmas theme is silver and gold, but we started the tradition last year to add one special ornament to the tree, last year my best friend gave me a dachshund ornament for helping with her baby shower and this year we bought Minnie and Mickey matching ornaments, and one of our friends recently moved in with us in April...(I guess not so recent but I digress) so we bought him his own special one too he loves batman so it only made sense.

Oh and don't mind the mess in the back, we just finished painting our kitchen today.

Enjoy! :)

Happy First Day of Fall!

It's officially my favorite season! Although the weather still isn't screaming fall I'm definitely allowing it to feel like fall in my home!

This is just the beginning of Fall decorating, I grabbed a few flowers at our local grocery store HEB but I still want to get some pumpkins and make a garland for my tv area.

I use some old Corona bottles which I removed the labels from and put them on my honeycomb shelves. I usually have them on the shelves all year and just change out the flowers, or I even leave them empty. I think they're simple and pretty.

A Mason jar (CAN'T master fall decor without lol)

And a growler my boyfriend got for free from a beer tasting. He's technically supposed to go get it filled but I use it as a pretty vase. I love it.

I am also burning an Apple Cinnamon candle and it smells delicious! BUT my all time favorite candle is from WAL MART! Pumpkin Spice scent. I burn it all season! Seriously the big candles are only $5 and I swear by those candles, they really work! I do like to get Bath and Body Works candles too, but as cheap as the Wal Mart ones are they are awesome! The candle I got today is Glade, and its working pretty well.

The bathroom even got some fall love ;)

I am so excited for this season! I love when I can leave my windows open and get some fresh air into the house.

HAPPY FALL!!

Random Post Monday

Today I got a compliment on my hair and I was surprised but thankful only because I did it in 2 minutes!
I love the simple braid bun look, because it looks like you care about your hair but in actuality you just didn't have any time for anything else. Right up my alley.
Ok random post over!
Have a great week!

Succulents

My love for succulents has grown recently because they're so pretty to look at and the EASIEST to care for.  I love it. I now have a few in my house and I did it inexpensively too!

All I did was get my used candle jars and cleaned out the wax by boiling some water and pouring it into the jars to get the wax to rise up. It's super easy! Then gave them a quick wash with some soap.

Technically you can use anything as the planter! I also used some square candle jars I bought for .49 cents at the thrift store (I cleaned the wax out of them too) and a mason jar.

I bought some rocks from Home Depot and some soil specifically for cactus type plants. I also got the succulents from Home Depot as well.

Then I went to town and made them pretty! I placed rocks at the bottom for drainage, then the soil and plant. I had a little leftover rocks which I placed on top of the soil.  I had more rocks but my sister also planted some succulents so one bag would be enough for about 9 plants depending on the size of your jars.

So all in all I now have some pretty awesome succulents in my house and they look pretty too!

Jars: $1 (already had used candle jars and mason jar)
Plants: $18 (6 plants)
Rocks: $5
Soil: $4
Total: $28

I think that's pretty good for 6 plants!

Happy Planting!
