My love for succulents has grown recently because they're so pretty to look at and the EASIEST to care for. I love it. I now have a few in my house and I did it inexpensively too!
All I did was get my used candle jars and cleaned out the wax by boiling some water and pouring it into the jars to get the wax to rise up. It's super easy! Then gave them a quick wash with some soap.
Technically you can use anything as the planter! I also used some square candle jars I bought for .49 cents at the thrift store (I cleaned the wax out of them too) and a mason jar.
I bought some rocks from Home Depot and some soil specifically for cactus type plants. I also got the succulents from Home Depot as well.
Then I went to town and made them pretty! I placed rocks at the bottom for drainage, then the soil and plant. I had a little leftover rocks which I placed on top of the soil. I had more rocks but my sister also planted some succulents so one bag would be enough for about 9 plants depending on the size of your jars.
So all in all I now have some pretty awesome succulents in my house and they look pretty too!
Jars: $1 (already had used candle jars and mason jar)
Plants: $18 (6 plants)
Rocks: $5
Soil: $4
Total: $28
I think that's pretty good for 6 plants!
Happy Planting!
